MRS GT-Racing successful again after the summer break

Porsche Mobil1 Supercup in Spa-Francorchamps

- "English weeks" at MRS

At the last weekend the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup occurred in unusually hot weather after the summer break.

The venue for the seventh run was the in the Belgian Ardennes located Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, where a total of 30 Porsche 991 GT3 Cup competed as a part of the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix. Through many long straights Spa is clearly one of the high-speed tracks in the racing calendar of the series and with a total of seven kilometers one of the longest course in the history of the PMSC championship season.

Many notorious passages, such as the steep rising Eau Rouge, requires not only talent from the drivers, but also a lot of bravery. Already during the free practice on Friday, the air temperature broke through the 30 degree mark and brought our pilots  neatly into sweat.

The qualifying on Saturday went out very well for the MRS team. With a time of 2: 24.591 minutes MRS driver Christian Engelhart secured an excellent third place on the grid for the race on Sunday. Even his teammate Roar Lindland (NOR) and John Wartique (B) were very satisfied with their starting positions 13 and 19. Christof Langer continued its upward trend and took a seat in the 14th row. Only the MRS guest drivers from Japan was a bit disappointed after qualifying. After his fastest time was canceled because he left the track limits to often, the other lap times unfortunately were not enough to drive the needed qualifying time.

In front of fully occupied bleachers all MRS drivers managed a perfect start into the seventh race. Christian Engelhart however lost already in the Eau Rouge his third position, as Porsche Junior Cairoli (I) overtook him under disregard of the track limits.Although Christian was very fast, it was not possible for him to conquer his position back during the race. So he passed the finish line as fourth, but the Stewards imposed after the race a 1-second time-penalty against Cairoli, so he had to cede his third place at Engelhart. For the other MRS pilots the race went very good. Lindland drove a faultless race and came over the finish line as a good 12th, John Wartique was pleased with a 17th place in his second Supercup race and Christof Langer finished the race as 23rd.

"English Weeks" at MRS

Just now we had the trucks back from Belgium, but they are already reloaded and sent on their way to Barcelona, where the MRS team with two Porsche Cup cars is participating at the 24hour race next weekend. Besides the well-known US-drivers Putman / Espenlaub / Foster and Dutchman Xavier Maassen, brings the MRS team a "Swiss-Racer". Here the Swiss Manuel Nicolaidis, Franco Piergiovanni, Fabio Spirgi and Richard Feller share the steering wheel work for the car with starting number 25. At the same time the team travels also to the last European Supercup race in the royal park of Monza, where the eighth championship run will be held as part of the Formula-1. Here Christian Engelhart will try with another good result to find a way to the table top. Roar Lindland, John Wartique and Christof Langer are also starting there for us.
